'Glee' star Naya Rivera's body identified
The actress, singer, author and model known for her role as Santana Lopez in the hit musical comedy show ‘Glee’ went missing on the 8th July while boating at Lake Piru, California with her four-year-old son. Rivera’s son told police that they had gone swimming in the lake, but she had never resurfaced after helping him back onto the boat. After 5 days of searching, her body was recovered using divers and sonar equipment.
She started her acting career early at just four years old in the Royal Family sitcom, before playing mean cheerleader Santana from 2009 to 2015 in Glee, a comedy ensemble show known for its memorable musical performances. The show won a number of Golden Globes and Emmy Awards, and featured guest stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Idina Menzel. She then starred in horror film At the Devil’s Door in 2014, published her book ‘Sorry Not Sorry’, and starred in the Step Up TV series.
Her Glee cast members took to social media to commemorate her life, with Jane Lynch tweeting “Rest sweet, Naya. What a force you were. Love and peace to your family.” The cast also gathered at the lake as her body was recovered.
