Uk’s Covid-19 alert level reduced from 4 to 3
The government has announced that the Covid-19 Alert level has reduced from four to three.
During ‘level 4’, the transmission of coronavirus was ‘high or rising exponentially’. Under level three, there can now be a ‘gradual relaxation of restrictions’ even though the virus is considered to be ‘in general circulation’.
Matt Hancock, the Health Secretary, stated that this was a ‘’big moment for the country’’ and that it showed ‘’a real testament to the British people’s determination to beat this virus.’’
The reduction in the alert level followed a recommendation made by each of the chief medical officers of the home nations along with the Joint Biosecurity Centre. With regulations soon to be relaxed, this will be good news for the country as it shows that progress is being made in the fight against coronavirus.
